Dysplasia surgery

Many malformations on the lips, jaw, palate and skull are congenital. Today, the majority of such dysplasias can be successfully treated using modern procedures.

Together with the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery – one of the largest centres for dysplasia surgery in Germany – we in the Oral and Maxillofacial Department of Bremen Outpatient Clinic treat children with cleft lips, jaws and palates, as well as asymmetry of the facial skull. We are able to restore all important functions, e.g., chewing, swallowing and talking by means of surgical interventions and, at the same time, ensure the best possible aesthetic result. In order to master these complex tasks, we work closely with the paediatric clinic, the orthodontists in charge of treatment and speech therapists. At present, the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery together with Bremen Outpatient Clinic is treating more than 2,500 children with lip, jaw and palate clefts.

You can get more information at our "Lip, Jaw and Palate Clefts Centre" at the Klinikum Bremen-Mitte hospital and during our special consultation clinic. Our trained speech therapists are also available here to answer your questions.
